We are searching for a motivated, experienced, and driven Circular Bioeconomy enthusiast to join our innovative team!
Background
alchemia-nova, a Viennese-based institute for research and innovation (www.alchemia-nova.net), focuses on innovative applied plant utilisation, with the aim of closing loops and facilitating a circular economy in combination of the bio-based industry and nature-based solutions. Our bioeconomy projects bring together insights into availability of secondary bio-resources and new utilization pathways for regions which want to make use of residuals.
Vacancy
An opportunity has become available within our team for a motivated and experienced expert on bioeconomy and biorefinery processes able to work on projects like FUTURAL, RURBANIVE, SYMBIO and direct studies in the area of bioeconomy after learning the existing methodology. The salary starts at EUR 3.500,00 per month as fulltime equivalent (category E collective agreement for extramural research organisations, gross, full-time = 38.5 hours, we search for ~30 hours, 14 x per year).
Duties and responsibilities
The applicant will be responsible for carrying out following tasks autonomously:
• Project acquisition, planning and scientific work
• Taking part and contributing to topic related conferences and workshops
• Resources and conversion pathway mapping incl. material flow analysis
• Circular economy consulting and delivery with existing methodology
• Developing new utilization pathways for residuals (incl. training the implementing organisations)
• Staying up to date with new developments (literature, conferences, legislations)
• Networking
Job Qualifications
• Natural sciences (Master level or PhD)
• Min. 5 years of experience in the field of bioeconomy and biorefineries
• Advanced knowledge in chemistry / chemical engineering
• Advanced knowledge in circular economy and systemic challenges or solutions
• Knowledge in process engineering (for biorefinery processes)
• Knowledge around bio-based plastics
Specific Requirements
• Existing network of companies and experts in the bioeconomy
• Fluent in German language (C2) and English (at least C1)
• Overview of the Austrian and European funding system
• Experience in evaluation
