Sonja Bednarik

Sonja graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Biotechnology from BOKU (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences) in Vienna and is currently working on her masters degree in Biotechnology, specializing in environmental bioprocess engineering.  She has worked as a science journalist for a Vienna- based environmental magazine and as a public relations responsible for an Austrian bioplastics company. After the birth of her two sons and a maternity break, she was employed as a quality engineer in the field of pharmaceutical plant engineering at an international industry planning consultancy for some years. She is interested in topics related to biorefinery and circular economy concepts as well as industrial environmental protection, for which reason her professional path led her to alchemia nova. In her freetime she enjoys activities with her family or dives into the vibrant Austrian music scene, as she is a passionate drummer in various band projects in Vienna.
